Welcome to Backyard Chickens.. I have days where I feel like crowing. But, I restrain myself.

Belated I don't believe I have ever had a crowing hen. I may have but I have so many birds I would just assume it was one of the males. Good luck and have fun...

HI! I've had hens start crowing after they hit henopause and stop laying eggs. It's rare but it will happen.

I also have a 2 year old Bushveld (South African breed) that has started crowing. And she can really crow like a boy. We do not have roosters and no one nearby in our suburban neighborhood does either so I have no idea how she learned it. She's the smallest in my flock of 4 with the biggest attitude but by no means the leader of the pack. She also continues to lay regularly. I would love for someone to tell me how to get her to stop. My neighbors are going to think I have a rooster.
