Crowing Hen

Our sebright rooster has been sick for the last week, and is on antibiotics and is recuperating. In the meantime he stopped crowing, and the hen took his place and started crowing. Now they crow together. Is this normal?

I love your video. Usually when a rooster is in the flock the crowing hen will defer the job of crowing to the rooster. So that part is not usual. That you have a hen that has decided to crow not unusual. She is just much better at it than most hens. You could be one of the few "lucky" people who's hen decides to change gender. That's so funny! I daresay she is even better than he. I'll be curious to know if she changes to a roo. I saw a PBS special that talked about it "The Private Lives of Chickens" I think it was called ;)
