Crowing???

Roosters learn to crow by nature on their own.I think its funny when they are learning because until they work up to where their sounds will be permanent,the sounds are comical.I have a Buff orpington and a Blue wynadotte about the same age.Blue started a week or so before the buff.They start early in the morning and continue through out the day.

i have a white wyandotte rooster in the city who doesn't crow. he is mating, protecting and all the rest, he makes weird noises, but not a crow. he's about 25 weeks old.
i also have a young light sussex cockerel that doesn't crow, he is about 16 weeks. his father didn't crow either...
i think this is the perfect rooster. when he starts i will have to get rid of him .

Okay everyone I'm excited to annouce that today while I was cleaning house I heard the first attempt at my roo's crow then I listened closer and he done it again. I'm glad he finally figured out how to do it lol.

Question... Do roosters crow to get your attention? Evert morning my rooster comes and looks in my window and crows at me, and doesn't stop until I go out and give him a treat. Any ideas???

Mine just does it at the most random times. 12:30 at night was his favorite time lol.

I had 11 Brown Single Comb Leghorn sent "as warmth". We chose one to keep and around 16 weeks he started trying to crow. The others wouldn't even try. Moved them all out to their pens and had about 6 start crowing. We could tell which one by his crow all where different. My Partridge Rock ( the only rooster I ordered) wouldn't crow and barely made any noise until after all the hens started laying at 23 weeks old. And man does he sound weird. If you couldn't see how big and pretty he is you would think he was......... well you wouldn't think it came out of him. I just laugh every time I'm out there and he starts crowing it is very, very funny. I have two SLW and they haven't crowed yet. All of our chickens are within a week of being the same age all where hatched in Feb.

My 2 1/2 year old Australorp HEN has begun to try to crow. She has always been the alpha - pretty much undisputed except occasionally from the bantam. LOL But just in the last few weeks Aida assumes the position on a chair or something and lets go with a relatively loud "quack a duh grunt", then a vigorous wing flapping. Have never had roosters since I live in the city. Funny that she would start that at this late date.
