Cruelty *RANT & VENT*

My thoughts exactly!

IMO, these people are just practicing and their next victims will be children

As a former domestic abuse victims advocate I can tell you that's exactly what it is. Studies have shown that someone who will abuse an animal often times progresses to hurting humans; mainly their spouse and/or children.
When I first got Charlie Girl she had welts an inch wide and 5 and 6 inches long all over her back. After three months of never hearing her bark, the vet checked her throat to make sure she could bark. Turns out she could, but was too afriad to. I can't tell you how many times I've wished I could get my hands on her original owner.
We don't watch the news anymore. My DH sees enough ugliness in his work and I rarely watch TV anyhow.

I have a couple of rescue dogs, but Riley is by the far the worst I've had. Riley is a lurch, he's part greyhound, part great dane. They are used for illegal racing. I knew none of this at the time.
I was bringing back some foster puppies I had at my house, and as I was leaving a girl at the shelter caught up with me, and begged I take this dog. I normally didn't take large males to my house, but she would not take no for an answer from me. I finally gave in, and said we can try and see if he will fit in at my house. Maybe he'll be ok since he's nuetered.
She brings out this poor dog who only weighed about 45 lbs ( he's supposed to weigh over 120 lbs), scared to death, and he apparently had been branded with a hot pipe. This poor dog had his spirit broken.
I got him home, and made him a nice comfortable safe place for him. As I got to know this dog, I realized how badly he had been abused. He is terrfied of water, was afraid of men, and the F word caused him to panic. It took 3 years to replace all those bad memories with good ones. He is still terrified of water, but men don't scare him as much anymore. He has learned not all people are bad.

I can't watch the news much anymore either. Especially when it concerns animal abuse. I still foster from time to time, and it really is hard sometimes to see some of these animals, and how they have suffered.

Bluemoon

I feel the SAME way. There is this recent case going on up here. I don't think I can even watch the news anymore because of this story too. A few snowmobilers or one, can't remember, caught and tortured a group of wild deer to death AND the person/people might not even get PUNISHED FOR IT!!!!!!!!

It makes me sick!!!!!
Ugh I'm still steaming about it.....

I wish I could do something about it but you really can't when the people doing this stuff don't even get punished for it. Why wouldn't you be punished?? I mean......

I might have to ban the news too...

I can't watch those pieces on TV either, or those anticruetly commercials. They make me cry.

While I don't ban the news or any other TV, I do change the channel when that stuff comes on.

The last time I actually took the time to watch those segments on TV, it was that cow processing abuse drama that unfolded last spring. I don't like buying meat from the store since then. We've been buying steers from a friend who raises them.

I stopped watching the news about 20 years ago. If I run across a TV nws program somehow, in a store, someone else's house, it's even worse than I remember. No thanks.

I admit that it upsets me beyond words...animals, children and elders...leave them be. If they feel the need to beat on something come try me... I fight back!

I recently completely lost my mind with a woman on a beautiful gelding. We were riding on some popular horse trails...and the horse was lathered and it was hot and he would not move and she was pulling and pulling on him and screaming at him, snatching on the reins and throwing the reins around his face...so he reared up and this idiot grabbed a big hunk of a fallen limb and starts hitting him with it and after about 2 swings I jumped from my horse running and grabbed her arm so she could not hit him again, yelled at her to control herself and try to have more sense than the animal she was running to death and hitting. Then I snatched the reins out of her hands and began talking to the gelding...as soon as I did he starting calming down and walked jittery still but calmly beside me.

It nearly killed me to have to let her take him...I know that he will only suffer more of her stupidity and abuse and it makes me sick!

I really need to move further into the mountains.

There was a case here a few years back where someone tied up a dog to the back of their truck and drove for miles! The dog was then dumped in the garbage shed at some apt building. It was STILL alive and the next morning someone heard it crying. They called someone they knew who loved animals (very small town where everyone knows everyone) and she went right up there and carried it to her car, drove it to the vet, the dog was almost totally skinned...it was horrible! This nice lady paid every penny she had getting this dog well BLESS HER HEART! She didn't have hardly anything but she was willing to use whatever she had to pay for this dogs recovery. The dog lived with her for 10 years after that and was a very happy puppy. We did collect enough money to pay her back for her kindness to this puppy plus enough to pay for 5 more years of vet care

The whole town chipped in! Most animal cruelty cases don't have a happy ending so this was one lucky pup!

I'm with you too. I also don't watch the news. It's rarely good and I can go to the weather channel to check on that. DH watches it while I am on here. I used to watch the animal cops on Animal Planet but I got to where I just couldnt stand it anymore. All those idiots and the laws are not strict enough for them. A slap on the hand. They should get what they dish out. Don't put them in jail so us tax payers can pay for their living. Our country should do what some others do. Rape = Casturation, Theft = limb removal etc. I bet that would slow it down. But then we got all these people that fight for murder's rights. I feel if they go out and kill somebody they don't have any rights. What about those animals rights?

Oh yeah, I can go on with this subject.
