I too used a trigger feeder, with a deep dish underneath.I've had my girls on crumble since new about a year ago. While I could see how some might think there's a waste factor I don't have any waste. Although I utilize a 5 gallon bucket with a "knocker" eyebolt system that generates no waste . As soon as it's released they are right there to eat it
The deep dish is what really reduced waste, especially for those neurotic birds who compulsively yank on the trigger until there's huge pile or the bin above is empty.
Eventually ran into trouble the with trigger so switched to a gravity tube.
