Crumble vs. Pellet

I've had my girls on crumble since new about a year ago. While I could see how some might think there's a waste factor I don't have any waste. Although I utilize a 5 gallon bucket with a "knocker" eyebolt system that generates no waste . As soon as it's released they are right there to eat it
I too used a trigger feeder, with a deep dish underneath.
The deep dish is what really reduced waste, especially for those neurotic birds who compulsively yank on the trigger until there's huge pile or the bin above is empty.
Eventually ran into trouble the with trigger so switched to a gravity tube.

My birds are around 9 months old and have fed on nothing but crumble, seems a little wasteful looking below their outside feeder, any issues switching to pellet?
I accidentally bought a bag of pellets instead of the crumble. Since I had already opened the bag I couldn't return it. The girls turned their beaks up to the pellets for a couple of days, so I added some crushed eggshell and some crushed-up Crispix cereal into the little wells of the feeder to try and generate some interest, and it worked! Now that they are eating the pellets I think I am going to just keep buying the pellets. The crumble would break down towards the bottom of the bag, almost powdery, and I would end up dumping the end of the bag out underneath a tree that the girls like to scratch under. No problem with the pellets getting smashed up like the crumble.
