My birds have never complained about eating pellets. Toss a few on the ground, and they will think you are giving them a treat. If they are hungry, they will eat it.

The feed is still on the ground and I've seen them pecking it at times, I just need to change up my feeder where its a little more efficient i thinkAgreed with OHLD. Your current set up is a rat haven.
