crumbles are too big?

I meant to get mash for my silkies who are a couple days old and my buff orps who are almost a week old. I got them from another member on here today.
I usually get the mash for the new babies, but for some reason I got crumbles. The crumbles appear to be way too large for the silkies.
Are they going to be able to eat the crumbles or should I go get the mash asap? They have been in my brooder for about 2 hours and don't appear to be eating. All my other just hatched chicks ate immediately after I put them in their brooder.

I thought about adding water. I didn't know if it would just be better to go get some mash?
Beats me.

I've always just given crumbles to the silkies. Mine just dig to the bottom of the dish to get the small pices till they are old enough to get large ones. I find chicks/chickens can eat things comfortably up to about the size of their eyes. Grapes and berries are the exception though, as they will choke those things down as long as it fits between their beaks.

You an always take a strainer or sifter and sift though the crumbles to get the powder out.
