Crumbles vs pellets

Supposedly there is less waste with pellets vs crumbles.
We use crumbles but our feeders are 5 gallon buckets with modified 3” pvc 90’s inserted through the sides of the buckets. The chickens stick their head into the 3” pvc 90 and eat from the bottom of the bucket, since they can’t scratch at the feed, we have no waste using crumbles so we have no need to switch to pellets.

I use the hanging feeders, and my chickens prefer crumbles. Initially I had a ton of waste. Read here somewhere to raise the feeder to at least the height of their backs or even just a little more. Tried it, and very little waste at all now.

When we were feeding dry feed my girls preferred crumble. I hated how much they wasted. We now feed fermented feed and I like how the pellets ddissolve more than the crumble. But of course the girls don't care now because it's all just mush
