Crumbles vs pellets

When I changed from starter feed to layer, I stayed with the crumble variety. I notice you can also get pellets. Any advantage of one over the other?

If they're picky eaters they just pick through the crumbles for what they like. I haven't tried pellets yet but I will when they start to lay.

For conventional feeders there's usually less spelled feed and the chickens will scoop up any pellets off the floor. GC

I've always used crumble, but had to figure out a feeder they wouldn't bill it out of.

Are you thinking of cracked grain feed?

I put tubing on the edge so they can't drag it out.

LOL. I set a bowl of food down for a momma and chick I have, freshly filled;
momma proceeds to bill out 90% of the food into the surrounding pine shavings.
I just stood and watched in disbelief. Like, really girl?

Chickens generally prefer crumbles, but pellets are generally less messy. Pick whichever works for you.
