Crushed Avione Cuttlebone for Chickens?

Hi, I heard that crushed oysters shell are a good source of Calcium for chickens, and was wonder if we can feed our chickens crushed Avione Cuttlebone inplacement of crushed oyster shells?

Is it safe to give Avione Cuttlebone to Chickens or is it dangerous maybe?

anyone know that answer?

Cuttlebone is fine as replacement, eggshells etc.

From what I've read there is not much difference.
The eggshells are somewhat more easily absorbed
than cuttlebone or oyster shells though.

Either will furnish the needs of hens.
Remember also that if you use a laying feed it
should have the calcium requirements.

My chickens free range (supervised)
and I give crushed egg shell because oyster shell
is not available. My mom's friend owns a diner.

Grandma raised chicks all her life. She'd save all eggshells, bake up the collection in her wood burning range's oven. They'd be slightly browned. Then she'd crush them and add to the feed. I do the same, but have used a handful of eggshells in the bottom of planting holes for tomatoes and have ended blossom end rot. Since my feeds have calcium in it, I just will use all of the eggshells in the garden.

Where do you come across this cuttlebone product? Is it something local?

Cuttlebone is the bone of a cuttle fish. All bone is made of calcium, right? That sounds like a good idea! I'm going to put one in the chicken run and see what they do with it.

silkylover- That is a very good deal! Yeah they are mostly a calcium
supplement for indoor birds and to sharpen the beak on.
