I have half a bag of white crushed coral left over from when I had an aquarium. Is it safe to use in my quail cage? The pieces are too big for them to try to eat.

Coral can be really sharp. It sounds like a recipe for bumble foot to me.

When you say, "crushed" what size exactly are the pieces of coral, if you were using it as a substrate in the aquarium, it was probably 1/8" to 1/4" in size.
If it's this size, it probably won't cause any problems, plus, it's a form of calcium that they can use.

Yeah, about that size. I already gave the bag to Goodwill, afraid it was too sharp.
