It has worked for me on egg production, either that or it was one serious coincidence or ten

I have never had a problem with worms in my flock either. Of, course, I only have 3 years experience with my OWN birds, so...try it and see for yourself. This is one of those things that has to be from experience. My experience has been good.

The day after I provided it for the girls I got my first egg. The next time I did it I got another girl to start laying. It gives them a bit of incentive I'm guessing.

Im trying it optimisticly on the worm thing.. havent seen any worms but Im new myself. Have no idea about the egg thing... Also "heard" it may boost their metabolism and keep them half a hair warmer in the winter.. dunno about that either but it DOES keep the chipmunks out of the feed bin, and probably any other mammal you don't want nosing around in your chicken feed.

I am sceptacle about cayennes ability to control worms in the digestive tract. Someone needs to test this by looking for worm eggs in feces of treated (with cayenne) and untreated (without) chickens. My birds are occasionaly popped with cayenne or paprika (which ever is most handy) laced diet that has approximately 10% dry weight spice content. They eat it without any obvious reaction to the stuff. Chickens also not only critters not put off by such spices, fish also pound it down as well. I did an experiment some time ago with largemouth bass fed these spices at very high rates and saw no effects in respect to the number of worms in gut. Rates offered fish likely much higher than what is likely to be applied to chickens.


I use it to enhance egg yolk color which does work.

Caseman, not to be patronizing, but I would just like to cheer you on for being an adept internet user at 70.

I highly applaud your efforts! My mom (60) would be completely flummoxed by such a thing as a web forum and calls me all the time to ask me the same questions over and over about using a computer. If you have nieces, nephews or grandkids, it will definitely bless them to be able to get your wisdom in a format they are used to! (But definitely give them a hard time about only ever talking via email
