I have this 4 week old silkie with a crusty beak. I cleaned it off with a warm cloth but she has mucus in her beak. No sneezing or nose discharge or any other symptoms. I lost 3 chicks to what I thought was a respiratory infection and treated everyone with denegard. They seemed to be doing okay and then I found this. Today I also found blood in one of the droppings (not hers) so I am treating with corid. Everyone else seems to be doing fine. Plz help.

Have you inspected the inside of the mouth and her throat? If the crustiness extends into the inside of the mouth and is also on the back of the throat, this could be canker. Metronidazole is the correct med for it. It can be given safely along with Corid.
