Crying... everything is dead. UPDATE POST #54

I am so so sorry. Nothing can be said to make the pain go away but hopefully it will make you feel better knowing your chicks are all in a big green field full of lots to nibble on. They are having a grand ol time eating bugs and playing with the other chickens that were taken before their time.

In NC you can shoot any dog harassing livestock or pets and harboring/hiding a dog known to harass livestock is a misdemeanor. Our neighbor (and cousin)'s dog has hit us twice now. Apparently a warning that he will be shot on sight is "being mean" after all they are just chickens and they have promised to pay $5 each for them.

My little girl sure misses her rooster. RIP Tuff the coolest rooster ever died trying to protect his girls.

Game cams.I think I would rather deal with a dog or coon than a 2 legger.Terrible to think someone near you did this.Hopefully they will run their mouth.

Please do take pics and document everything. I can't help but think there may be some feathers at the predators house that kinda stuck to them. I would do some snooping. You talked about the one hen being across the street--do you live in town?? Maybe someone saw something --I think I would go door to door and if anyone is close that had to make a racket when it happened. A reward for information may work.

so that explains how the door got open.he crawled in and walked out.maybe there are fingerprints on the inside of the gate/lock.

if you get a game cam,you are going to have to lock it,since you are dealing with a 2 legged predator.

i wouldn't ask anyone about their dog, just SSS

and also a video cam in your pocket in case you see the person/dog wandering about.

the next time you see that dog that chased your kids, you really should just go ahead and kill it.nothing to play with there.
