I have two cuckoo maran chicks, and at about 6 days old they are looking distinctly different. Is all the white on one an indicator its a male, or just that she has odd wings? Maybe mild frizzling? It's really hard to get them to stand still to get good pictures, but on the one with more white the wings curl in and up instead of out and flat against the body. The other chicks pull at its wing feathers a lot, which might be making it worse. If so maybe I should separate it? That seems a bit harsh though for such a little one.

I've had birds grow in white at first that meant nothing. It changed back to normal coloring.

However, it COULD mean double cuckooing for the rooster.

You'll need more time to see any difference in the two for gender.

Marans often telecast early best with comb growth and color in the boys.
