Well I wish you luck! The only thing I worry about with yours is that you have no way of holding the humidity in, and you will have to be watching that very carefully. Also if your house temps fluctuate at all you may have problems holding a steady temp with only a heat lamp, and no thermostat. But it's better than not trying at all. I typically keep my Humidity at 45%-50% for the first 18 days, then 60%-65% for the last 3, how will you be upping the humidity in the last 3 days? Good Luck, I will be watching, I'm very interested in your bator!
hi. I'm still going to put mine in on Good Friday but you all are making mine look little a small ordeal. I will be lucky to put in 10. I have 7 days before the 2nd and I'm gathering these from my girls. the problem is my girls don't lay egg shape eggs that often. I only have 1 roo RIR, and he is with 12 girls. I don't think he brothers with the white legged so I don't brother the white eggs and I'm not sure about the others, I get yellowest/brown eggs and then I get light to med dark brown eggs. I don't know which belongs to my BO's and which belongs to my RIR's. But I will get some eggs to try before the 2nd.

I hate to put a damper on your excitement, but the eggs you got are not nearly dark enough to qualify as Marans eggs. I don't know who sold them to you, but they shouldn't be selling that light of an egg as a Marans egg. This is one of the reasons the Marans breed is having such issues.....eggs like the ones you got are being sold when that shade of egg should not be included in the gene pool.
