Cuckoo Maran or BR

She sure does have Cuckoo Marans coloring on the backs of her legs, but they dont usually have that much black on the front like some of the BR pullets do. Love to see more pics of her.

Cuckoo x Black Marans ? That would account for the dark legs.

Well, I went out and took pictures today and just tried to download them and they disappeared. I'll try again tomorrow. I can say this, the back of her legs and the bottom of her feet are the same color as between her toes in the picture on the first post. I would say the color is what I'd call beige.

Cuckoo marans have white legs and feet, not black, so I doubt that is part of the equation. Was this a hatchery bird?

Yes this chick is from a hatchery. Do you have any pictures of the white legs and feet of the Marans for comparison sake? Thanks

It could be a spontaneous mutation. Not as exciting as it sounds unless it is something truely unique. There are 6 barred species I think. Could be anyone of those got tossed into the hatcherys breeding line without them even knowing... Thats another option, there are LOTS OH OPTIONS. Just make one up

Okay, thanks for everyone's opinions. If she lays a nice dark brown egg someday maybe that will give an indication of whether she's a Maran or not.
