cuckoo Marans 9 weeks, roo or pullet?

9 week old cuckoo Marans, started crowing 2 weeks ago, but inconsistently. Male or female? I've heard that pullets can crow if there are no roosters in the group. Sweet, polite bird. Spurs are the same size as everyone else's. Thank you!

yep, that's a "he". and will likely grow up to look much like my own (recently departed) cuckoo marans rooster ...

Older, dominant hens can crow. Crowing birds this age are roosters. Plus, the lighter coloring, large comb and wattles.

How can you tell it’s a rooster so adamantly? I’m trying to understand because I too am feeding concerned I may have a rooster. Mine looks the same as the one in this photo but mine is 11 weeks and just this morning I might have heard a “partial” crow. Thank you!
