This is Dapple, about 5 1/2 months old. Now that she's started laying I hope I can figure this out. She was purchased from a feed store as a Dominque but the barring is fainter than I'd expect, legs are wrong color (pinkish with gray shading), straight comb instead of rose comb, eggs are darker brown than expected, etc. So... hatchery quality Cuckoo Marans?

She looks just like my 2 hatchery Cuckoo Marans.

Thanks for all the replies/confirmation. I told hubby and he said, "We've been bamboozled!" but I pointed out a Cuckoo Marans would've cost a little more, so in a way we got a bargain? Doesn't really bother me either way, I just wanted a barred bird since we didn't yet have one.

I bought 10 Dominique day old "pullet"chicks from Purely Poultry back in January and kept 6 and sold 4 after they arrived. Now that they've feathered out one is darker and has a single comb. Its also friendlier! Maybe I have a Cuckoo Marans? Theres something different about its head too but I can't quite tell what it is.
