Cuckoo marans

I know in my heart you are probably correct, but here is a link to a page on feathersite.com and if you scroll down past the pics of the eggs, it shows both roos and hens and I could swear the hens look exactly like mine. The rooster looks to have a much larger comb and its deep red. I dunno!

Check it out

And their age is more like 9 weeks. We got them when they were a week old, the second week of October.

I'm sorry, but the fact that they are only 9 weeks old, and have THAT much comb development and coloration alone tells you that they are cockerels. A pullet doesn't get redness into her comb all all until roughly 16+ weeks. The only way your birds could be females is if they were hens that were already laying. That's the only way the combs would be that tall and red in this breed.

Well that's not good news! How does it explain the strange resemblance to the photo on feathersite? I was all ready to agree until I saw that picture! Now I'm not so sure.

I guess I will now have to find a home for them as we are not allowed to have cockerels.

Crap!

If you look closer, most of the feathersite pullets and hens are darker than your birds. There is a photo showing two pullets and a cockerel together, you can see how the pullets are darker compared to the cockerel.

I would hang on to them for a bit longer, until you are sure of gender. Sometimes you never know as the hatcheries sometimes don't breed the best colored birds.

wait till at least 15 weeks old you will know for sure by then but i would bet you a dozen eggs that they are all cockerels though

This is why I'm confused. My chicks look like the ones in the rear!

This pic is listed as a hen. Nice waddle!
