A friend of mine has cuckoo marans and needs to trim out his young Cuckoo roosters. i currently have 4 BCM (1 roo) and 1 blue (hen) and 2 (hen) Wheatens as well as 4 ameracuans. If i get his roo will i be able to breed a female Cuckoo from my existing Marans or will they become mutts? obv. question why not just buy a hen from him. he's not selling any.

i didn't know if you can mix cuckoo like you do B/B/S.

thanks

If you have a Cuckoo Marans rooster over a non-barred hen you'll get all barred offspring that will NOT be auto-sexing. I would personally hang on to the BCM rooster if it's an option, you can breed him to get pure BCM offspring, and you can breed him to your Ameraucanas to get Olive Eggers!

thanks i tried the calc. but don't have a clue what options to pick. When you say all barred offspring i'm assuming not pure offspring correct? I guess i should pass on the cuckoo roo. it was just a really pretty bird with lots of feathered feet.
