Is there still a lot of pink skin popping up from recessive genes with this coloring? Or are you pretty safe if you have a dark skinned hen and roo? (I have no clue how long they've been bred - I just happened to get some in an auction.)

The barring gene itself lightens skin; it is not a recessive gene popping up from past breeding; it is part of the nature of barring.

Ahhh--that IS the question. Breed in lots of melanizers and

that they darken skin while not affecting plumage too much.
