I have no idea what culling mean and what is does please explain?

To cull mean to get rid of. It does not always mean to kill them but to sell them or move the birds from breeders pen to laying pen.

From what I know...which isn't that much...it means to remove from your breeding program. Alot of people...including myself use it to say "kill" because it sounds more appropriate. But the actual meaning I believe is removing that chicken from your breeding program for whatever reason.

It simply means to remove from your flock.

You can then kill, give away, sell, compost, etc. Lots of possible options.

So glad someone asked!!! Lol, I have been questioning that myself, I thought kill. But there are times when people were saying it and it did not make sence that kill would be the meaning. Good to know!! Thanks.

Sometimes it just plain hard for people to use the word "kill" or dispatch, or put down, or butcher so thus the substitution of the word cull is often used in an inaccurate way.
