I had a RIR that was kicked out of the flock and was picked on a lot by the other chickens so that her whole back was bare and bleeding. She stopped laying, was acting weird, wasn't eating, and wasn't putting weight on one of her feet. I didn't think she had bumblefoot because her foot hadn't swelled up. Do you know any possibilities of what she had? She got culled about 3 weeks ago. Whatever she had didn't transfer to the other chickens. Sorry I don't have any pictures

I'm sorry about your hen.

It would be very hard to know what illness or condition she may have been suffering from without necropsy.

Since it's been 3 weeks, you'll have to chalk it up as a mystery I suppose. If you end up with another that is having problems and lose them, then sending the body to your state lab will give you the most answers.

Your hen died 3 weeks ago. I am guessing you have been anxious and stressing about your remaining birds? I can only imagine. Looks like everything is going to be ok though. Congratulations. It may be that the foot/leg issue was an injury from the cruelties of the pecking order. It could be that simple.

we only had four chickens before the RIR got culled but are getting chicks this week

thanks for your encouragement
