Culling a long time rooster. Is there a better time of day?

When I have a problematic roo, or even just obnoxious teenage cockerals who want to be chased to get back into the Hensly Palace, I just say fine, spend the night outside. Very often that's the problem solved without any human having to kill something that more than likely wont be good to eat. On the other hand, my lawn guy is always happy to dispatch a roo and take him home for dinner.

We have a rooster that is in charge of 18 pullets and hens. He has worn out his welcome. My legs are scarred beyond belief. I have been trying everything under the sun for the last 3 months with no success. I have lumps where he has spurred me that are over a month old.
My question is is there a better time of day to cull him? I was thinking at bedtime so it doesn’t disrupt the ladies too much but I didn’t know.

I haven’t culled him yet. My husband grow up on a ranch and I make sure it only takes one chop to kill them. I only cull chickens if I absolutely have to and it will go to use. I stopped eating chicken after culling our first two last year. My oldest daughter is taking the meat. My husband works for a beef company so I’m still good on protein. Lol. Thank you everyone for all the advice.

Is the rooster mean to the hens? That would change their reaction of the culling. If they liked the rooster then they will be sad, whether they show it or not. If the rooster was a jerk to them, they wouldn’t be as sad about it, if sad at all.
