Culling a long time rooster. Is there a better time of day?

Yeah, those thibgs hurt. I had a male who accidentally peirced me between my thumb and pointer. It was an accident, I held him and he tried to fly away and his spur was sharp enough that he didn't need much force.

A lot of people seem to file or clip spurs so they aren't sharp but I love their natural looj

Bless you and your mean rooster! I have one I have put off killing for way too long. I just plain dislike doing it. Mine only comes after me if he hears another bird in distress. This makes it real hard to do anything with the hens or young birds. He has put serious puncture wounds in me, mid-thigh, two times. He's about 5 years old and a beautiful 1/2 jungle fowl/1/2 americauna that was gifted to me when hawks got my last roo. He has been removed from the flock and lives with an ancient goat - I still don't trust him and he needs to be dispatched. I also keep finding ways to not do it.

We have a rooster that is in charge of 18 pullets and hens. He has worn out his welcome. My legs are scarred beyond belief. I have been trying everything under the sun for the last 3 months with no success. I have lumps where he has spurred me that are over a month old.
My question is is there a better time of day to cull him? I was thinking at bedtime so it doesn’t disrupt the ladies too much but I didn’t know.
id say at bedtime or just before because if not they’ll probably be calling for him or crowing consistently until dark if there’s others roosters. I had a cull some roosters because I could not find homes and I made the mistake of doing it in the morning, the others crowed every hour all day long into the dark..calling for him. Then started Again extremely early the next morning. I was forced to do all the others sooner than I wanted to because they were incredibly loud and I am sure my neighbors did not like that.

This is yesterday through heavy wrangler jeans and cowgirl boots. He has attacked me while giving him treats. I have held him and thrown water on him. I have tried everything. I don’t want to drug him.

I am sorry it came to this and hope that this will not get infected.

Let this be a lesson to all of us: This is what you get for delaying the absolutely essential act of putting an immediate end to the rooster's aggression.

Do not underestimate the possible damage, just imagine he would have assaulted a child instead ...🤐

Ooh okay roosters are dangerous. Culling the rooster would be the quickest and cheapest way of dealing with him. And I guess maybe just some circumstances where training a rooster would work and be worth the time and effort.

I have put in over a years worth of time, training, and effort in to him. He has been mean for a long time. It has not been cheap or quick.
