Had to cull 14 chicks today all went well quickly for the chicks. The problem was with me as I cut my finger in the process. The cut came in contact with the blood from the chicks. I wonder if anyones knows if this is a problem. Concerned about infections etc. Thanks.

There is nothing to worry about.

I had a toad flip his wing during blood testing, sending the needle through my finger---- all the way through--- the needle was poking out the top of my finger...

After I revived from fainting, I called the State Vet in charge of the poultry section, she has a PHD in Public health also---- She assured me there were no blood borne pathogens I could get from a chicken.

She suggested the ER or urgent care. for a tetanus shot. Urgent care refused to serve me because it was a needle stick----no matter how hard I tried to convince them the needle had only been used on a chicken...

The wait in the ER was like 4 hours, so I went home and two years later I am still alive!
