Hi there,

I have a lot of eggs in the incubator and am curious if I get a lot of silkie roosters can you butcher those around 4-6 months as well? We do not want more roosters but I am unsure on the quality of meat on silkies. Probably the same but just wanted to check.

It's the same. I recommend 4-6 months, yep. The meat will be dark to nearly black depending on quality, and it won't taste much different. They're still good eating

Good for you for planning ahead. I have a knack for hatching out roosters. Silkie and others

Yes you can cull and eat them. I never have........... yet. I may have too. I know someone that does and said they are very good. They even even have names .....

I guess they are a delicacy (sp) in some areas.

Good luck with your hatch,
