Hello! I attempted my first fecal float test this morning with fresh droppings collected on a poop shelf (no contact with bedding) from my 8 chickens. I followed the fecal float test instructions posted here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/fecal-examination-in-backyard-chickens-101-part-1.75459/

I have an Amscope B120 with a camera lens. I alternated between 10x and 40x magnification, but I'm struggling to compare online examples of parasites with what I'm finding on my sample. I have attached some of the more "interesting" findings from this morning, but even AI is just blowing them off as plant pollen or environmental factors. Can someone with a little more experience give their opinion? Some of the pictures are at 10x then again at 40x on the things I saw.

Also, if anyone is using a similar microscope that can offer 10x and 40x snapshots for reference I would be eternally grateful! I can't ever tell the magnification of online pictures and don't know if I'm wasting my time looking at things too small to be worthwhile.

Its been quite a few years since I was a vet tech looking at fecal floats...but none of these look like any kind of parasite eggs. Pollen or plant matter sounds about right.

Usually parasite eggs will have more "stuff" in the middle and not be clear all the way thru with only the various membranes showing up.

I redid it this morning without the lens camera (I realized it killed the quality of the image) and here are some other things I found interesting this morning. Most of the images are at 40x magnification and a 25x lens. I realize that that 25x lens is excessive but I couldn't find the 10x one until after I was already done :idunno.

To note: none of my chickens are showing symptoms - we had one chicken die unexpectedly last week, but we're pretty sure she had a heart/liver issue due to extreme comb color fluctuations compared to the other hens all of her life. I'm just trying to learn the process and identification for preventative measures and out of an abundance of caution :).

Any other input would be appreciated, I'm just trying to learn what to look for and what to skip!
