Another little roo. Got dads barred from the gem and look at his tail. He has true teal!!!! And more is showing as he gets older.

If I have a Blue Standard Cochin rooster, what do I get if I breed him to other colors of Standard Cochins? I have buff, white, light (self) blue and gold and silver-laced pullets that I am raising.
Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Check out this color calculator to have some fun...
color calculator

When you cross your blue rooster over your Lavender (called self blue depending on which breed) hen... you will get 50% black and 50% blue. I THINK 50% of those will be SPLIT to Lav (meaning hiding it, but may produce Lav chicks when bred back to lav)

The calculator doesn't account for leakage. So for example... your blue x buff... will essentially say 50% black and blue... but there will likely be heavy leakage of the buff color... or something to that effect.

That tool really is a beginner tool with lots more understanding to come, but a very good and fun place to start with some basics. Hope it helps your adventure some! :pop
