curious about silkies

I was looking up breeds that sometimes have a silkie gene/mutation/whatever expressed, like in this thread -> https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=144074&p=1

Out of idle curiosity, do silkies ever randomly express normal feathering? Or would that be impossible without it having been mixed somewhere down the line?

Silkie feathering is recessive and hard feathering is dominant so it would be genetically impossible for a silkie feathered bird to also have the hard feathering gene.

I'm not much of a fan of silkie feathering so I hadn't bothered myself with the science behind it . . . thanks for answering my silly question.
