Curious what happened with this one chick?

Quote:
with mine upon examining the chicks I could find where the yolk sack had been pierced.. only a tiny puncture on some.. others had large tears.. but it was enough to cause them to drown in the yolk
For me, even though I have hatched thousands of chicks it has only happened rarely.. if someone has a problem with it happening a lot then I would think it was something else causing the problem

Wow....I have hatched uncountabel, numerous chicks myself, and one thing I have never encountered, was a yolk breaking during any point in the incubation and hatching process. unless it was an exploding egg....Could it have been bacteria induced , diseased parent stock or a vitamin deficiency that would have cause said yolk to break in some of your rare anomalies?

the few I had looked as if they had caught either a toenail in the yolk sack or had pipped through it.. the longer tears made me think it was a toe

Ive been trying to figure this out myself. The conclusion is that it somehow popped its own yolk sack and the fluid leaked inside.
