CURIOUS when do you all candle your eggs?

Im very impatient and i candle mine at day 4 i have a very good candler and can see very well.. ive never been wrong in my fertility determinations at this stage, ive had a few im not sure about and left them in longer or dark shells that i cant see thru.
Reason i ask is someone gave me 5 eggs from a mixture of chickens (eggs not from same hen) 1 was very fertile at day 4 rest were clear so i told them and they nearly had a hissy fit saying i should never candle day 4, that nothing will show till day 10.. i was like ok chill, explained that i always candle day 4 and never wait till day 10 i dont want rotten eggs in my incubator ! .. i would like to know when is your 1st candle day?

I know a few people that do day 7, I think you should be able to see at least a little at that point. I personally haven’t even had eggs to candle so don’t take my word for it.

Also id like to add that ive been very naughty and candled again at day 6 with same results no change because i cant wait to tell the person that they are wrong

Day 7 the first, day 12 the second and day 18 the third candling.

I candle day 7, 14, and 18, right before they go into lockdown.

I know a few people that do day 7, I think you should be able to see at least a little at that point. I personally haven’t even had eggs to candle so don’t take my word for it.

I think day 7 is a very safe number to candle eggs at, so i wouldnt have been so sassy if the person said day 7 to me

I candle at day 8-10 by then you will know what is and what isnt developing properly.... then i candle at lockdown.
I try not to mess with them too much

and you wont get rotten / exploding eggs from just 10 days in the incubator

All I’ve seen at day 3-4 is a dark spot and start of veins spiderwebbing.

To each their own. Day 10 is definite development vs no development.

SO likes to candle all the time because hes impatient and I have to beat him off with a stick.

10 days wont make them explode so dont worry.

I candle mine at day four as well as I can’t wait to see if anything is developing! Traditionally people candle day 7/14/18. I also candle day 10. These are the days that I mark on the egg. Any other candling is just for fun and are not marked on the egg. You can candle as little or as much as you want technically.
