Curious

Oh yeah you can for any poultry or animals you have (as long as you follow BYC rules)
Awesome.
I have a question. I hatched my babies this past spring. I have 5 rouen ducks and 2 africian geese. Lately one of my geese has decided to go after my kids on occasion. They are just minding their business. This morning it looked as if she was going to go after me but now is hanging out with me. I say she I actually am not sure of the sex of my geese.
I love love these creatures. What can I do to stop this behavior? I have been there since day one and so have my kids for some of it. They have lost interest. Me, never.

Thank you all!

Well I’ve definitely heard geese are known for their aggressive behavior, but I don’t own any right now...just a Rouen duck. I’m not a professional when it comes to geese. do you have them fenced in at all?

They’re getting horomonal, we’re going into breeding season here in the northern hemisphere.
The first year is an important year for setting up ground rules with geese, they’re learning their status as it relates to others. Geese and kids have a long history of not always mixing well, the small people seem to really freak geese out and bring out their aggression.
If you get charged/ attacked it’s important to pick them up and carry them around, it’s the best and kindest way to teach a goose who’s boss. It’s easier the faster it’s done, grab them by the head so they can’t bite and hook your other arm around their torso to pin their wings and lift. Then just carry them around, it doesn’t take long, maybe a minute, then you can set them back down.
