Curled toe- severe and painful

Newly hatched- maybe a week old has very bad curled toes. We tried the tape on door but not helping and may be hurting more. Here is a picture of him walking.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Make the booties/braces again. And maybe try experimenting with a few different ways of doing it.

They do hurt; there's no way of getting around that. But it's better to be hurt temporarily than to be lamed for life. You can give him a single normal (325 mg) aspirin crushed up in a gallon of water to help with the pain.

Unfortunately not all curled toes are fixable.
Some are due to bad genetics.

I have a chick with the same issue and it just turned a month old and can't get the toes fixed. Going to try the tape booties again. I didnt notice till after a week it had this issue. I'm also going to try the aspirin thing for pain.

It's ok, one last question, how far up on the foot do i make the sandals.

Just the feet; Vet Wrap or the adhesive part of a band aid however I've learned some are harder to remove than others. When my mom was in the hospital, learned a "trick" removing the IV tape = hand sanitizer. Just apply & work adhesive tape off.
