Curled toe?

On how old of a chick can you do this on? It only needs to be there for 24 hrs?

I have a chick who's 2 1/2 weeks old. She's getting along ok. But if I can easily correct this it would be nice.

Does she need extra vitamins? Where would I get them? At a feed store or pet shop (like bird vitamins)?

When you make the little shoe, am I reading correctly that you separate the toes, in like that V - like the normal chick foot?

I would try it. what have you got to lose? I would separate him from the others tho because at that age, they are very curious about each other and they may peck at him. I place the toes on the bandaid just like I want them to stay anatomically. Good luck.

That's a lot like what I do xke4.

Poison Ivy, curled toes can also be related to how long a chick takes to hatch. If the chick pips and stays in the egg too long without hatching, say 36 hours, for instance, its bones start to harden in position. While in the egg, the bones stay soft and flexible, but once the hatching process takes place, they gain firmness.

Lonecowboy, I'd say it's too late for a 4 week old. Sorry.

Well, it wasn't causing him any problems so I didn't notice it as quick as I should have. However, he took a long time to hatch. This is the one I had to help out of the shell. Interesting thoughts on that.
