UPDATE: When I put everyone in last night I saw Gaia & Echo on the 2 of the 'Free Nests'. When I went to check on everyone this morning(we have a rat
) I saw that the girls had covered their nests all up with feathers and straw!
I went out this morning to feed everyone and decided to take an egg count since all the girls got off their nests. So here's my count (free nests included)...
Free nest 1: 15 scovy eggs Gaia!
Free nest 2: 13 scovy eggs Echo!
Free nest 3: 4 scovy eggs
Blue Cochin hen: 2 scovy eggs, 1 cochin egg
Black Cochin hen: 7 scovy eggs, 4 cochin eggs
Zima: 6 scovy eggs (had to toss 1)
Montie: about 17 scovy eggs (i couldnt get a good count before she came back)
and last but Certainly not least...
Lilly: 33 eggs!!!!
what a weirdo! I ended up removing 18 of the coldest ones & putting them in the bator. a few had blobs but others were 'new' looking. hopefully they're still good enough to grow. the little booger had her whole 2' x 1.5' box Full of eggs.
I am thinking Panda(balck pied) or Gaia (self blue pied) will be the next broody, they have both been eyeballing the free eggs lately.
