It was at that point they started playing the tune to My Heart Will Go On, which of course led to Celine Dion singing it during the credits.
 
AMERICAN ULTRA

I liked this movie, but then I have a perverse sense of humor and this movie has some very funny moments. Jesse Eisenberg is the title character, a going-nowhere angst-filled stoner dude who, as it turns out and unbeknownst to him, is a pre-programmed killling-machine operative who gets activated as rivals in the CIA duke out their ladder-climbing career objectives. Kristen Stewart is Jesse's girlfriend and, for once, she's not a glum-faced placeholder but actually has a range of emotions. Topher Grace is over the top as a power-hungry back-stabbing CIA admin wannabe. John Luguizmo (sp) turns in, yet again, another triumphant performance as Jesse's manic crazed best friend. It was refreshing to see these folks in roles so unlike others in the past.

The movie has quite a bit of explosions and lots of killing, but -- luckily -- it's not a Rob-Zombie-lingering-gore fest, but -- be forewarned -- people do get exterminated and in many assorted ways. Once the pace gets going it's fairly action-packed. All in all, I'd say the feel of this movie is kind of very cartoonish, so good mindless escape for those that aren't put off by a little (well, a lot) of blood splatter.
 
LOVE AND MERCY

The true title of this movie should be "Brian Wilson in the Snake Pit" as it chronicles the fine line between genius and madness and the exploitation of the driving force of the Beach Boys. The story line is split by decades. Paul Dano puts in a stellar performance as the young Brian Wilson battling his oddness to create his vision in a fairly myopic music world. John Kusak plays the elder Brian Wilson post drugs/sex/rock-n-roll apocalypse who is in the Svengali-like grasp of his therapist Eugene Landy (played by Paul Giacometti in a role that is extremely hard to bring humanity to) who is sucking the life and money out of him as the oppressed-close-to-being-commited Beach Boy finds redemption (and love) in a chance encounter girlfriend (played by Elizabeth Banks) who hangs in there despite all.

This movie was both disturbing and fascinating and I spent hours afterwards doing research into the happenings of this movie and the end result of the participants. In other words, it made me think and ponder unlike any other movie I've ever seen and left questions that needed to be answered for closure. The Beach Boys, to me, were always a happy pop phenom....Who knew? As a result I have a much richer appreciation of Brian Wilson and all the trials and tribulations he went through to bring so much joy to others when life was less than charitable to him.

Oh yeah! he hasn't won one yet, has he? I kinda never think of that. He was ok, I guess when he was younger. Wasn't my favorite even though he was good at his job. I like him better now as he's aged, but I still don't/never will see why women think he's so hot. One of my friends thinks so and I just don't get it.

I feel the same way about the Afleck brothers. Just seeing them/ hearing the sound of their voice makes me want to throw up in my mouth. BUT, I think they're both really good at their craft so I guess I can respect them enough to watch them. I thought Ben was great in Argo, among other movies. And Ithink his brother was great in The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Really, the whole cast was.
