Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

The Empire Strikes Back is not my favorite Star Wars either, but most fans (myself included) think it was technically the best film of the Star Wars movies. It typically has the highest ratings from sites like Rotten Tomatoes (with both critics and viewers) of any of the Star Wars films. I never got the sense of a boring or wasted moment or character in The Empire Strikes Back and evidently a lot of other viewers feel the same way. And as drumstick diva said, boy did The Empire Strikes Back leave many questions to ponder. However, The Force Awakens was a lot of fun which is what I go to the movies for in the first place. :o)
Yeah, I never cared for The Empire Strikes Back because nothing really important happens to the overall storyline of the films. I have heard that a lot of people like it though. I know that The Phantom Menace was the least liked of the films, not sure why--you'd think it would have been Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith. Still waiting and anticipating to see if the movie will become the best grossing film of all time; so far it's looking like it. Anyways, yeah, it was great to have another great family movie (one of the few good movies these days that has almost no swearing and inappropriate content)--one that many, many generation have grown up watching and can relate to. And now, the generations to come will grow up with episodes VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII!

Saw "Goosebumps" today, a Disney movie with Jack Black. Not really scary -- should've known when the previews were all cartoon flicks that it was geared towards young kids -- but the special effects are kind of fun. Not familiar with the series at all.

Watched "The Ridiculous 6" last night on NetFlix, the latest iteration from Adam Sandler. Usual cast of cronies (Rob Schneider, David Spade, other SNL alum) but it was fun picking out the cameo folks. A western filmed in very scenic New Mexico (which is why I watched it). Some of the gags were used to death, but the movie was amusing in a very sophomoric Sandler way.

At this point I'll say that I'll be watching a lot more TV and NetFlix at home as we've got a new 55" home theater TV (Merry Christmas to me!).... The LED HD is AMAZING. Watching the Sandler film last night I commented to DH "How come their New Mexico looks so much better than our New Mexico?" Also watched a little of "The Sound of Music" sing-along and was most amused at how surreal the picture was. Dog was barking due to the nuns marching across our mantle. Yeah, it was that vividly real.

I totally agree with you about Attack of the Clones being the worst of the Star Wars films (and my entire family agrees as well). My son says the only redeeming thing in the entire movie was the light saber fight between Yoda and Count Dooku. Otherwise it was a downright boring movie.

In Attack of the Clones, the arena was cool, but the only thing that the movie contributes to the overall storyline is that Anakin and Padmé fall in love.

I thought the arena was pretty cool as well, but there was precious little else that was cool in the movie. :o( I'm glad The Force Awakens was so much better than the three prequels. :o)

Yeah! The Phantom Menace was the best of the prequels. Although, I didn't like that they introduced too neat characters, Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn, and killed them off.

That's probably why people didn't like it.

Watched The Scorch Trials tonight. I'd give it 1 out of 5 stars. It did not merely not follow the book, it was "inspired by" the book. The effects weren't all that great, nor was the acting. They made it some kind of war/zombie movie. I don't know why they even called it The Scorch Trials, because those didn't even happen in the movie...Very disappointing movie, much worse than the first one.
