yes, Chris Hemsworth is a fine actor... well...a fine everything...

I want to go see The Hobbit also but my work schedule generally is not aligned with the times the movies are playing. I refuse to go to the big movie theaters that charge outrageous amounts of money to see a movie. I go to the small one down the road that is only open on weekends and charges $4 to see a movie. Plus the seats are bigger and better than the big theaters...

They are showing Free Birds now.

The roads finally melted, and we had cabin fever so we went to see 'Philomena'. Dame Judi Dench - what a performance! This movie is worth seeing. I still have a lump in my throat and an emotional tightness in my chest over the injustices visited upon this woman and her child. Ironically the order of nuns integral to the telling of this story is the same order that 'taught/tormented' my wife for 9 years.

deedee, see this one - I want to see your opinion.

I'm running way behind but, I saw "The Hobbit, the Desolation of Smaug" last Sunday. If you were disappointed with the Hobbit part 1, you will be ecstatic over part 2. Peter Jackson got his groove back.

The scenery of course is breathtaking, the action fast paced and intense. More time is spent on character development - although I still can't tell several characters apart, too many beards, too many tall and dark haired etc. Again and again Bilbo proves his worth as a necessary companion even though Thorin seems ever to demean him. Some very creative escape plans and of course the introduction of Smaug. Then an abrupt end which I seem to remember occurred with each episode of Lord of the Rings trilogy as well.

I was very satisfied tho ,at times ,when Smaug faced the camera he looked rather cartoonish. I rate it 3 1/2 stars , my brother gives it 4. Part 3, the last installment is slated for Dec.2014.

I saw 'The Impossible' last night (Netflix). Good Movie... kinda disturbing though. Just SO MUCH distruction... but then again, that WAS the subject of the movie.
Thumbs up

Brother and I are supposed to see Saving Mr.Banks on Sunday. I think the greatest honor is when someone has Tom Hanks play 'them' in a movie. I was thinking since he looked so cute in drag on "Bossom Buddies," he could even play me, in the sordid tale of my life.

Well, he was great in "Philadelphia" so no reason he should not do well in "Drumstickdiva, the Details".

I thought it was quite good - not great. Did touch the Princess emotionally I'll be interested to see the assessment of you and your brother.

We saw "Saving Mr.Banks," this afternoon. Tom Hanks was great of course. The movie was good but, I kept checking my watch. Couldn't believe it was one of the shortest movies I've seen in the past few weeks- seemed to go on forever. I think it was due to PITA - Ms.Travlers who ranted on and on and on and just sucked all the joy out of the room. I just wanted to thump her upside the head! I know it was a character portrayal but, it reminded me somewhat of her character "Nanny Mcphee," of kids movies (that adults liked to watch)., serious and very business-like.

My brother liked it also but, fell asleep during some of the early part, actually he has had a bad sinus infection, so it wasn't from boredom.

Tomorrow I'm taking the senior bus to see "American Hustle," it looks chaotic but the critics keep giving it great reviews as a comedy. We'll see, it really has a first class cast and I expect them to live up to the recommendations.

Sour - yes Tom Hanks was fantastic in "Philadelphia," I can hear the song in my head, whenever I think about it. Great movie for emptying tear ducts.
