Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Believe it or not, my DH has never seen "Rocky Horror Picture Show" which celebrated it's 47th anniversary yesterday. (I was in college at its debut, so have fond midnight memories.) So tonight I'll be doing the Time Warp Again....

"Minions - The Rise of Gru"

I am not a fan of animated movies, but the Minions have a place in my heart. One would think after -- what? -- three movies they'd get stale, but not so! Lots of fresh takes and brilliant -- seriously, bright colors -- animation. The airplane scene had both DH and I in hysterics.
Light fare to lift the mood.

"Paradise Highway"

This thriller might have gone straight to video, which is a shame as it is a powerful movie dealing with the very gritty subject of child abduction. The heroes in this film are an unsung lot of members in the female trucking industry.

Morgan Freeman is the retired investigator mentoring the newbie assigned to the case. Juliette Binoche has a major role for which she should get an Oscar nomination. Frank Grillo is the ne'er-do-well brother. Hala Finley makes a stunning debut as the abducted package to be delivered across state lines.

1 hour 55 minutes; Rated R

"Elvis" and "Where the Crawdad Sings" dropped on Redbox today and are now available for rent.
Where the crawdad sings has a low rating on rotten tomatoes. Let us know what you think of it!
