Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

I saw "Don Jon"- despite some tacky sequences, it was a very good movie. I can't think of his name off hand but he was TOMMY on 3rd.Rock from the Sun. He has become quite an actor. Apparently
he wrote the script, directed it(and himself) and starred in it .

This must be some kind of record - I saw 3 movies that were recommended by critics and for the first time all year, they have been right about all of them. In Descending order (my opinion only): Prisoners , Rush, Don Jon.

I hope this streak will last, I would like to see Captain Phillips(with Tom Hanks), Gravity, and Blue Caprice. The second Thor movie comes out soon too..

I loved warm bodies. It was the perfect chick flick for chicks who don't like chick flicks! Lol I wasn't expecting it to be that good because zombie movies always seem the same to me. This one was VERY different.

Chickerdoodle13 I can't get anyone to go see Warm Bodies because they think I have odd taste in movies. Well sometimes you find a real treasure and this is it.

broke my streak of 3 movies in a row, I really liked. GRAVITY was just not my cup of tea.

It seemed like Sandra Bullock screamed through a good half of the movie, and fell apart during some of the rest of it. Finally near the end she started functioning. I think a few good smacks to the head would have straightened her out much sooner. It's hard to believe they would have felt her qualified for space travel. I do like Sandra but not in this instance.

George Clooney was smooth as silk like anyone who was lost in space. What was he smoking? I have seen better images of space at the IMAX theatre at the Museum of Science & Industry. Of course that screen is tremendous and wrap around so you really feel immersed in what you are viewing.

I saw Gravity in plan old 2 D but, don't think an upgrade to Imax at the local theatre would have helped. Our theatre (AMC) calls it Imax and charges for that but, it's pretty much a regular size screen
- so a waste of money.

If you are a real space fan and love going to a planetarium (I don't) but, son and brother do, then you would probably view this movie in a much more favorable light. My brother liked the movie and rated it 3 stars.

IF anyone has seen Gravity and really liked it - please post a review so readers get both sides of the coin. Thank you

DeeDee, I have to agree with you - not my 'cup of tea' either. Special effects/cinematography were great. After that

- nothing special.

If you don't mind sitting on the edge of your seat and holding your breath for over two hours - you'll love this movie. I did. An Oscar worthy performance from Tom Hanks, as well as strong acting from the Somalia pirates, coming down to a cat and mouse game - two strong men doing what they must to survive.

Saw 'Enough Said" today. It's a good movie - not great. Definitely showcased James Gandolfini's skills. I did not know he was that good an actor. Way more than 'Tony Soprano'. Made for a nice afternoon.
