Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

I think it's cause we're old Sour.
No, I think it's because they mumble.... In the "old movies", everyone would speak clearly, like theatre actors, knowing that the audience needed to hear the dialogue. Then movies turned to "realism", and they started muttering and mumbling in hard-to-understand dialects, or with their backs turned. There's nothing wrong with my hearing, but I bought some headphones to watch my tv with because I was always missing bits of mumble.

I think that part of the problem with big-screen movies is that they have the soundtrack/background noises disproportionately loud to the dialogue. In the old movies, the dialogue would usually be brought up so that it was "over" whatever what else was going on, now they seem to think we want all the racket coming out of the surroundsound speakers and don't care what's going on in the plot.

shakes fist. LOL /cranky old lady mode

Yes, you are so right, they'd rather you hear the background music louder, so maybe you'll buy the soundtrack from " Bloody Zombies vs Batman" or something like. I used to bring ear plugs for the 20 minutes they show trailers because the volume was cranked way up. Fortunately(?) my hearing is half gone and I no longer need ear plugs. :(

They did mumble, but I am also old and deaf.

Saw "The Magnificent Seven," starring Denzil Washington & Chris Pratt. I enjoyed it very much and rate it 4 stars out of 4. My brother also liked it and gave it 3.5 stars.

I don't remember if I ever saw the original but, I am going to hunt it down, so I can compare.

Has anyone seen some of the new tv shows/ streaming stuff - would love recommendations: I loved Sherlock, Daredevil, Stranger Things, etc. need something to tide me over till the next marathon viewing.
