Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Finally we got to see "The Mustang". With the Princess's play rehearsals and grandson's ball games we haven't had a lot of 'us' time. This movie is based on the mustang/prisoner rehabilitation programs carried out in some of our western prisons. It's not a happy all feel good sort of film, but it sure touches on the redeeming effect of the human/animal interaction. We really liked this film. 3 from the Princess and 3.5 from me.

That movie isn't playing out here Sour. We did see Tolkien with Nicholas Hoult- acting was first rate - but a younger person played him for too much of the movie. The story itself was not much. My brother said 3 stars, I vote 3.5 . Oh 3 people in the theatre besides my brother and I. Don't expect this movie to make it through the week.

Nick and I have history. I first met him in the movie "Warm Bodies," which was most excellent - he was one of the Zombies. He was also in a fairly recent Mad Max movie which I didn't bother to see.

Expect our next movie won't be until "Rocket Man," the Elton John movie. His part played by Taron Eggerston ( the young recruit) from "Kingsmen." Looks really good in the trailers.

Watched a DVD movie last night, "Fighting with My Family." What a delight! It was a very engaging and entertaining movie and not at all what I imagined it would be. The story is based on a real family in England whose salvation is wrestling and the ultimate dream goal of being in the WWE. Kind of like a backyard horse pining for the Derby. Very humorous and not violent unless, of course, you think WWE is unstaged. No blood! Just a lot of people slamming people to the mat during fight/workout sequences. PG-13 rating, I believe.

The only teensy little snark I have about the movie is that it touts featuring Dwayne Johnson when, in reality, Vince Vaughan carries the film and "The Rock" is doing mainly cameos for maaaaaybe 5 minutes of the movie. Hate that. Kind of like that Bruce Willis film where he's kidnapped and you don't see him again until the last 2 minutes of the movie...false advertising. But, credits to him, Dwayne Johnson is the producer of the film and thusly occupied elsewhere.

Thumbs up by all in our family.

thank you Peep _ Show for a very good review. What is ,isn't like Liam Neeson movies requiring a man with a certain set of skills. I do like Liam ever since Rob Roy where he bathed in the pond.

Saw John Wick 3 yesterday, absolutely loved it. It follows on from the 2nd movie but for me it is far better than the 2nd one. Lots of great fight scenes with a lot more weapons than just the standard guns and the other characters gets a bit more screen time too. 9/10

thanks for the review!

I watched the other two and liked them

I never saw the first John Wick but, loved the second. Trying to get my brother (he's the driver) to see the new one. Loved Keanu since Parenthood ( great movie - he was the daughter's flakey but, adorable boyfriend). He also starred in "The Lake House," which unknown to me was filmed at our Forest Preserve at Maple Lake.

The Matrix was even better. I have seen the 3 over and over and over. Loved the original Oracle though her cookies were too crispy for my teeth.
