custard ice cream recipe?

Any favorite recipes for custard ice cream? I'm from St. Louis and Ted Drew's is the best custard EVER. Anyone familiar with a concrete custard shake? I miss this custard and am desperate to find something I can make that is similar.

Hi,

The one time I was in St. Louis, Ted Drewes was a "have to visit" place on our trip. It was delicious and a concrete on a hot summer day, wow.

I just did a quick Bing search and didn't come up with a copycat recipe for Ted Drewes' version but there are quite a few recipes online for old time custard ice cream. Maybe one of those will come close?

If you find a recipe like the TD frozen custard, please share it!

Thanks for checkin NorthFlChick. I'm headed back to STL later this month for a family visit. I'll eat a concrete shake in your honor. Oh, and if I find good recipe, I'll pass it along your way.

You better have 2 concretes...1 for each of us! Oh and if you can find the recipe, I would LOVE to have it (my clothes might not, but I would).
