Found an emergency vet open, taking her in now!

It appears the area may have gotten infected, despite being precautious with wound care, bacteria sometimes is able to infiltrate the tissue. Let us know how the vet trip goes!

We’re checked in. $130 for the assessment, waiting on a treatment plan for the actual $$. Opal (the duck) & I talked though, and we agreed at $2 an egg she’ll be paying me back over time.

It ended up being a pretty quick visit, they did a thorough cleaning and prescribed antibiotics (Clavacillin), pain med/anti-inflammatory (Carprofen), and Silver Sulfadiazine (cream).

The vet said that she needs to be in quarantine for 10-14 days, with no outside time. Never thought I would, but I'm going to be buying some duck diapers so she can at least hang out inside while I'm working instead of being alone in our sunroom.

After all is said & done Opal owes me about 140 eggs ✌
