Since quails and chicks have been getting on my nerves and kept me hopping the past couple days (it's hatch time), I was glad to finally get some "comic" relief from a couple of my birds...
The BC Frizzles I bought at a swap in Farmville early last month have been living in a tote inside the house since I bought them. I would occasionally let them outside before we moved, where they would hide under the Hostas and just hang out by the porch.
Well, this past weekend I felt sorry for them and decided to let them free range. They've been in their tote in my sewing room since moving to the new house, and I wanted to give them a chance to be "chickens" for a change. They were afraid at first and hung out a lot by the back door, but as the week has gone on they've become a bit braver and will venture out into the yard if one of us is out there as "protection;" otherwise, they stay near the back door under the deck and run like the wind if the "big" chickens get near them. In the evenings, we round them up and bring them back inside to sleep in their tote...
Tonight I had to go to a quilt guild meeting in town and, on the way home, I called to check on everyone, since I still had quail and chicken eggs hatching. My DS informed me that, around dark, the Frizzles, Brutus and Cricket, followed him into the back door, through the laundry room and into my sewing room, waiting to be put in their tote! I just thought that was the cutest thing ever!
Of course, DH finished their coop tonight and their run will be done tomorrow night, so now they'll be totally confused...
