So this is a peachick… we don’t own peafowl. But there is a free range flock that makes a part of our property their nursery every year. We always she peahen mums with her brood running around the “nursery grounds” as we call them. But this young chick was orphaned 😢, but luckily my Dad found him under a shrub screaming for his mum, but she had already flew away with her older chicks. It was very weird, this poor, and very tiny chick was left all alone, with no family in sight, and all the other peachicks with the mother who had flew away where already big and able to glide😳. So why was this one so small? Was it a part of a different brood and got lost in the storm? (There was a storm just before we found him). But then the next day we found another one, screaming for mum. But this new chick was over 100m away from where the original chick was found, it was a weird but great day.

I know it’s not a great photo but it tells quite the story.
