These 2 babies are almost a month old. I got them at Rural King on 4/9 and was told they were about 4 days old, so I gave them an April 5th birthday. The Crested Runner is definitely a female, but I'm not 100% sure on the other. I'm leaning towards being a drake due to a little rapsiness in the vocals.
Being what I've learned about Crested ducks, she'll probably be placed in my bantam/special needs pen, my older drakes can be quite rough when mating. She's already had a few episodes when I first got her of not uprighting herself from her back.
Going home 4/9

15 days later, next brooder, they outgrew 2 totes in 2 weeks. I moved them to the coop nursery since the threat of below freezing temperatures wasn't forecasted. I only use a 100w incandescent bulb and it stays between 75-90°F, covering 3/4 of tank on chilly nights.(They have a duck feeder now, but same water container.)

This was their second time enjoying the pool, forgot phone 1st time the day before. The pool is 40" round by 12" deep. They were a little apprehensive, but after a few moments they were zipping around like pros. They get about 20-30 minutes pool time

We miss having them inside.
I realized 2 days later that my ducks or chickens had moved a metal container I had covering a hole (honestly forgot to repair) I had discovered going under the 10x16 main coop. I found it moved several more times, but still I didn't think anything of it until a female duck was frantically trying to get through the hole which I had fixed hours earlier. It dawned on me why there was a sudden reduction in duck eggs and opened the hole back up. Sure enough she had a next of unknown quantity of eggs and not just hers. I found up to 4 of my ducks were taking turns and sharing sitting duties watching them over the next several days. They're about 8-10 in from the opening, but against the back skirting. I removed a couple panels and discovered 16-20 eggs, I took a photo and counted from it so not to disturb anything. From my estimate, I should have ducklings hatching later this week in time for Easter. The hard part will be catching them so I can try to rehome all of them, I have 24 adults and 2 babies. I was getting ready to rehome 10 of my adult drakes, keeping only 4. I lost 3 females over the last 6 months to medical issues and unusual circumstances. I'm keeping my original duck, an 8 yr old khaki Campbell, his son, my 1st Runner and my 1st Mallard/Runner drakes.
