we are getting our chicks next week... I already decided on names!

Rosy - Buff Orpington
Laci - Golden Laced Wyandotte
Poppy - Silver Laced Wyandotte
Nelli - Easter Egger

we still haven't named the dominique... thinking Daisy or Maisy

I like plays on words/or their breed:

Benedict (for eggs Benedict our fave breafast item) - I thought nugget was a bit offensive
Silvia - a silver laced wyandotte
Mari - an ameraucana
Ollie - an Olive egger
Queen LaLa - she's the top chick and we thought she was a lavender maran
Sweetie Belle - a wellsummer my 6 yr old named

cute chicks, nice names but Benedict is Benedicta and Queen LaLa is King LaLa.

if it is marans you don't need to wait for months, btw, only marans boys can have light coloured beak and the chick looks like marans. the comb is big for that age and it looks like it starts around the nostrils - another boy's sign.

keep us posted, I would like to know if I guessed it.

I did not know that about Marans chicks. Is that true for Blue Marans as well? I have 6 Blue and 2 Black that are about 3 1/2 weeks old and I had some guesses but I just went out to look at beaks. If that is true about the lighter beaks then I'm pretty close on my guesses time will tell!

I have learned in marans thread that marans girls always have dark beaks while boys can have both, dark and light.
